Localisation and translation: How important are they?

Language barriers in every day life can be a hurdle. Take some examples from around the world: In a Bangkok dry cleaner’s: ‘Drop your trousers here for best results’. Or on the menu of a Swiss restaurant: ‘Our wines leave you nothing to hope for’. Imagine then, in training and development, how language and cultural differences can become a new kind of monster.

Trying to wrap your head around a new concept, or to learn a new procedure, can be difficult enough in your native tongue. Our focus shifts, certain bits of information might be presented too soon or too late to be coherent.
